What MOJ certification actually means
The Ministry of Justice license is personal, not corporate — it is issued to a named individual, not to a company. Arkan’s is MOJ License #701, held by Khaled Mohamed, and its scope is written Arabic ↔ English legal translation.
The stamp and signature on a page attest that the named, licensed translator produced that specific translation and stands behind its accuracy. They do not attest to the underlying document itself — that is a separate step handled by the issuing authority, the relevant embassy, and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not the translator.
The license does not cover interpretation (spoken work in courtrooms, meetings, or appointments) or any language pair outside written Arabic ↔ English. A stamp claiming otherwise is a reason to verify it directly with the Ministry using the steps below.
What to look for on the document
- A person’s name, not only a company logo. The license belongs to an individual legal translator.
- A license number on the stamp.
- A signature on the translated pages themselves, not only on a covering letter.
- The language pair — a translator is licensed for specific languages; the pair on your document should be the pair on the license.
How to verify with the Ministry
- The Ministry of Justice operates a Search for Translators service (Arabic interface) reachable from moj.gov.ae under Services.
- The Ministry’s published toll-free number is 800 333333.
- Ask whether the license number on your stamp is registered, to whom, and for which language pair.
Why this matters
A company trade license permits a business to operate; it does not certify translations. The credential that matters on a stamped page is the individual translator’s MOJ license. They are two different licenses doing two different jobs — and it is worth knowing which one a stamp is relying on.
